Oklahoma City University has been named to a list of military-friendly schools. The designation, described in a press release as “coveted” came to the institution “thanks to its ongoing support of students who are in or connected to the U.S. military.”

The military advocacy organization Viqtory announced Wednesday (March 27) that OCU is on its 2024-25 Military Friendly® School list, at the Gold level. The list honors colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military members as students to ensure their success on campus.

Beth Adele, chair of Mass Communications at OCU and an organizer of the campus’ application for the program, said the designation is evidence of the university’s goal of helping all students obtain a first-class education.

“OCU is proud to provide educational support for our veterans and their dependents deserving of their sacrifices and careers,” Adele said.

“The Military Friendly Gold designation helps us communicate our ongoing dedication to invest in the lives of our veterans as they journey from service to student.”

The Military Friendly® School designation provides service members, veterans and their families with transparent, data-driven ratings about post-military education and career opportunities.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey completed by each school. Student survey data was also taken into consideration for the designation.

More than 2,500 schools participated in the survey.

The list will be published in an upcoming issue of GIJOBS magazine. The list can also be found at militaryfriendly.com.

OCU, a Yellow Ribbon Program school, scored particularly high in the categories of academic policies and compliance, admissions and orientation, and financial aid and assistance.
