Patriot Family Counseling Services is offering a free Mental Health Conference at Tulsa Tech’s Lemley Memorial Campus on Thursday, April 4th, and Friday, April 5th.

This will be the first Annual UniteCare Conference. UniteCare is meant to be a Community Collaboration Conference for mental health and caregiving professionals.

Attendees can expect two days full of workshops and training sessions aimed at teaching best practices for mental health care. The conference is meant for mental health care professionals, caregivers, or advocates.

It aims to build a stronger mental health system that provides care, support, and services to help Oklahomans build better lives.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Health, 592,000 adults in Oklahoma had a mental health condition as of 2021. Of those people, more than half did not receive any help due to cost, lack of insurance, or the simple fact that many communities across Oklahoma do not have enough mental health professionals.

The workshops and trainings at the UniteCare Conference will give local caregivers and community members the space to collaborate on possible solutions and provide attendees with the knowledge to address mental health and provide support amidst a shortage of mental health care providers.

Workshops include learning the science of a substance use disorder, understanding self-care, dealing with grief and so much more.

Each day the conference is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. and wrap up around 3 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Transformations, TulsaTech, Patriot Family Counseling Services, CREOKS, and the Mental Health Association of Oklahoma.
