Your votes named this restaurant the winner of our OKC Metro's Best Pizza Bracket

Final votes have been tallied in our OKC Metro's Best Pizza Bracket, and you chose one restaurant as the winner! Oklahoman readers voted for the winner of the OKC Metro's Best Pizza Bracket, a Sweet 16, March Madness-style bracket on pizza in Oklahoma City. The readers voted in the first round of voting on March 5, with Dado's Pizza, a restaurant that opened in 2022 and has only one location, winning over Hideaway, a fast food chain with a three-state footprint including nine metro locations. Despite some earlier rounds being decided by as few as 12 votes, Dado’s won with 75% of votes compared to Hideaway's 25% (265 votes). The winner was determined by the support of locals, who encouraged voting at the restaurant's checkout counter. The 16 restaurants in the bracket were chosen based on word of mouth and personal experience.

Beginning March 5, we asked you to vote in a Sweet 16, March Madness-style bracket on pizza in Oklahoma City.

You made your voices known, both in voting and in comments about those restaurants not included in the bracket. You hated some of the options, loved others and were pretty vocal about the seeding of the bracket and restaurants you thought should have been on the list.

This was the second time we've done a bracket like this and once again, you the readers made it fun because of your engagement. Thank you for participating and being a part of this adventure with us.

After the final round of voting, Dado's Pizza, 10942 N May Ave., was chosen by Oklahoman readers as the winner of the OKC Metro's Best Pizza Bracket.

Dado's beat out 15 other competitors across four rounds to achieve the win, beginning with the initial round of 16.

Those 16 went into a bracket and your votes each week determined who moved on, narrowing the field until just Dado's Pizza and Hideaway remained.

Dado's, a restaurant that opened in 2022 and has only one location, rose to the challenge — claiming the win over Hideaway, a force launched back in 1957 and boasting a three-state footprint including nine metro locations — through the support of locals.

The Dado's team was also invested in the outcome of the bracket by taking it upon themselves to encourage voting at the restaurant's checkout counter, and it seems that worked out in their favor.

Despite some earlier rounds being decided by as few as 12 votes, in the final round of voting Dado's garnered 75% (784 votes) of votes to Hideaway's 25% (265 votes), making them the clear winner in battle pizza.

Along the way, I consumed a lot of pizza from the restaurants on the list — we'll call it research — and what I learned is that Oklahoma has a pie for just about everyone out there.

The 16 restaurants in the bracket were chosen based on word of mouth and personal experience, of course there are more that could have been on the list, and some that you probably wish had been. Some are slated for possible future ideas and some I just may not have heard of, so let me know.
