NBA Notes: Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Cavs, Peyton Watson, Hawks
Thunder Shai Gilgeous-Alexander already has two straight MVP awards. The Thunder’s injury report is giving him plenty of opportunities to demonstrate why. Oklahoma City improved to 4-0 with Monday’s win over the Suns, despite losing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who already has two consecutive MVP awards, continues to perform well despite losing Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace to injuries that will sideline them for months. Chet Holmgren, Alex Caruso, and Ajay Mitchell are expected to miss the upcoming game against Dallas due to injuries. This could bolster Gilgeously-Alexander's case for another MVP bid. Meanwhile, Peyton Watson's performance in the Cleveland Cavaliers' overtime win against Minnesota showed his ability to contribute significantly. Aaron Wiggins, who has become a dependable source of offense for the Hawks' second unit, is uncertain for Wednesday's game against the Heat due to a knee contusion and a potential injury. Atlanta is also dealing with a fifth consecutive loss to Miami, but having him available would boost its chances.
